Forces Experiments continued....

This week we have continued our Inquiry on Forces. The children had lots of fun using the special equipment from the House of Science kits.

We used slingshots which use stored electric energy. We tested how different rubber bands (size and thickness) made a differnce in how far a projectile (pom pom) will fly.

We built and played with Catapults.  We learnt that a catapult works by energy being converted from one type to another - elastic to kinetic and transferred from one object to another (sprint to projectile).

We explored how high things will bounce with a range of balls and how you drop them. We used a variety of balls- light and heavy, smooth or rough, squeezable and not. We now know that the balls use gravitational potential energy which is stored until it is dropped.
