Learning Through Play

We love seeing ākonga so engaged in play before school and during reading groups. Students are able to work on a range of skills during this time.

Innovation by creating with the magnets, lego or at the make it table. Collaboration, by sharing resources and playing imagination games together in the home corner or in the blue room. Communication, by writing books, discussing rules to a game or planning a creation together.

Here are some of our favourite activities to do during play:

I like colouring in and sitting next to my friends. - Sophie.

My favourite is playing in the blue room because I like building a base with my friends. - Halston.

I like playing with the doll people, I pretend there's an emergency. - Theo

I play in the family corner, We pretend that we are dogs. - Poppy

My favourite thing is to make in the creative room. I usually like to make vehicles for people. - Cian
