Book character dress up day

To celebrate our Book Fair Week, everyone came to school dressed up as their favourite book character. It was so much fun. Take a peek ...

Bee-Bots are the perfect tool for introducing students to the principles of coding. Whio has been using Bee-Bots, the Bee-Bots app and an unplugged activity called Kid Bot during our Maths/Digi-tech lessons this week. Bee-Bots are exciting programmable robots that tamariki can program to move around a grid. In our sessions this week, we have used the Bee-Bots as a tool to enhance our directional skills. Although using Bee-bots looks simple, there is a lot of learning taking place. Students design, write and debug their code in order to reach a goal. We have had lots of fun and especially enjoyed the unplugged group challenge where we have to find the shortest path to get to the dinosaur!

Mindful eating - 5+ a day

Today we practised mindfulness by paying attention to our five senses while eating a piece of pineapple. We talked about what we saw, smelt felt, tasted and heard using lots of describing words. We did some great descriptive writing.
